Providing Structure AND Choice in PE
Providing Structure AND Choice in PE My PE classes consist of students in grades 9-12, of all different backgrounds. In classes with up to 60 students, I could encounter the following: Students ranging from grades 9-12 Non-athletes Athletes who already worked out that morning Athletes who haven't worked out Experienced lifters Students who've never entered a weight room I knew I had to appeal to a wide variety of students in order to get them to buy into my PE class, but I still wanted to provide some structure so they knew what to expect in my class that day. I landed on the following schedule: Monday - Mobility DayChoices: Stretching/Flexibility OR Yoga Tues/Thursday - Strength & Conditioning Choices: Bodyweight Fitness OR Weight Lifting Wednesday - Cardio Day Choices: Cardio Machines or PLT4M's Dance Fitness Friday - Game Day When students show up for class each day, they have two options. For example, on Tuesdays when students arrive, about half of them will head to the weig
Adding another option (school or year) to sort in users tab.
We have both high school and middle school using the program. We are having a tough time sorting out the high and middle school students when editing/deleting out middle school students in between quarters during this remote/hybrid settings. It would also be nice to have a grad year sorting option also so when we get to end of the school year we can delete the seniors to make room for the new middle school students.
Enter and log weight
Is it possible to create a workout and have students enter how much weight they lifted in order to create a log, so they know how much to lift next time? Then they can see if they are improving. Example: DB Curl 3x10Day 1Set 1- 20#Set 2- 20#Set 3- 20# Day 2Set 1- 30#Set 2- 30#Set 3- 30# Thanks,Mitch
Introducing PLT4M in My Classroom
Hi fellow P.E. teachers! After incorporating PLT4M into my classes for the last 3 years, I’ve fine tuned the way I introduce PLT4M to my students. It can be challenging to learn a new online tool yourself, while simultaneously teaching your students how to use it! Below I’m sharing my latest approach for introducing PLT4M into my classes: Introductions and expectations The first day of school can be exciting and nerve wracking, and it is my job to make sure that the students feel comfortable right off the bat. I start by introducing myself, including: My background (something personal about me) Why I’m here Why I teach Next, I’m going to explain the goal of the class. I teach 3 different courses: Strength & Conditioning, Foundations of Weight Training, and Women’s Fitness. Each course has different goals and objectives, so I like to make it very clear what they signed up for, so that they understand what that class is all about, and what they can expect to gain from it.
I downloaded my reports at the end of last semester and received the email that they were ready. However, when I click on the link to download the reports, I cannot get them to download. I have tried to download them on several different devices and I still cannot get the file downloaded. Any advice? Thanks
Favorite Follow-Along workouts?
Brand new to PLT4M and I’ve been spending loads of time navigating the site to get a better picture of all there is to it---it’s a bit overwhelming! As we are back to in-person learning I am curious as to what you and your students favorite follow along workouts have been? Thanks!Heidi
Virtual Classroom Teaching Methods
Are you hosting synchronous classrooms, or are kids doing workouts on their own? Perhaps a blend of the two? Are cameras on or off? We want to hear all about it! Share what methods have worked for you; perhaps it will spark ideas for other teachers in the PLT4M Community!
I am struggling creating a report that will print my students flying 10 times. I get a short list of 10’s on the intitial page. But when I print the class out, their times are not listed. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Also, can I print an attnendance report without having to add a workout? I would just like to know what students are doing what workout, and when they are logged in, how long they are working. I liked the old report tab better. ) :
Good afternoon, how can I create an individual report with one students. pre and post tests on the that report. Ex. John Benches 150 squats 225 at the beginning of class, at the end he benches 175 and squats 255. How can I print a report that shows this and can give to the student?
Students have logged in and created accounts. I’m looking at the Administrator -User - Student - section and all of my students have added me to their group. Some of their “status” shows “unactivated”. Is there something I need to do to activate them? Is there a step they missed to activate. Others show a date when they last visited. I want to be able to share in our next class meeting. Thanks.
EDU Assignments: Videos/Podcasts transcript avaliable?
I have a student with a traumatic brain injury that asked if there was a transcript for the videos/podcasts because they have a hard time focusing when watching/listening to the video/podcast for the EDU assignments. Is that something that is available? Thanks!
Manage view question problems
Question about the student workout tab. I have had the students go into manage view and uncheck workouts that they are not going to use and hit submit. Only the programs they might use are left on the page. When they come to class the next day, all of the programs available to them are back on their workout page. What do we need to do different to keep their workout page clean with only the programs they will be using? Thanks for the help, Chad
